COLLADA Plugfest – July 22- 23rd, 2008 Redwood City, CA

Announcing the COLLADA Plugfest – July 22- 23rd

Hotel Sofitel, Redwood City, CA

Sponsored by Intel Corporation

Come join COLLADA developers and test your tool’s interoperability!

Intel is pleased to sponsor a two-day event July 22-23 to help developers test their COLLADA importers and exporters to make sure they can interchange content correctly. Bring your code and your content and we’ll help you show where improvements can be made.

Make your implementation the best it can be and then potentially join Intel at Siggraph 2008! At Siggraph, Intel will showcase a content workflow in our booth, demonstrating the whole content creation workflow from concept art thru-out incuding editing, modeling, animation, skinning, tecturing straight thru to final rendering in movie, game engine, etc.

COLLADA spec authors, COLLADA savvy engineers, and marketing guidance will be on hand along with other developers in San Francisco on July 22th and 23rd to help you interpret the specification, understand how a COLLADA enabled tool should work, and help you market your application!

COLLADA Tool Developers: Come and bring your latest version. Free testers will explore the nuts and bolts of your implementation and show you how to improve your product. Bring technical staff who know the insides. Debate the finer points of spec interpretation with other COLLADA implementers. Developers should bring their own content and test data including textures, source content, and any other exported COLLADA content. Be prepared to work closely with your peers to export your own content and import other’s content so that your application can interoperate with other COLLADA tools by the time you leave the plug-fest.

Bring your own development laptop, be able to make changes directly to your own tool’s source code, and be able to debug any import and export problems. Bring your build environment. For example, If you are on Windows, bring DevStudio. Be able to diagnose bugs in your software and offer guidance to those around you regarding the specifics of your own importer and exporter.

Coming from the event you will all have a better understanding of what content and tools works best between COLLADA implementations and where yours needs more work. So we will do our best to bring you up to COLLADA par! If your tools and/or viewer are awesome, we will include your application and you in the Intel booth, theatre and possibly even the Intel tech talk at Siggraph this summer!

Presubmitted content and questions will receive priority. This will allow everyone to have more time to review the material beforehand. We expect to uncover and resolve the following types of issues:

    Software bugs

    Specification interpretation issues

    Invalid content

Expect refreshments, catered lunches, and a catered dinner, while enjoying the lovely San Francisco Bay Area Sofitel in Redwood City, CA.
