OBJ -> Collada Converter?

Hi,

I apologize if this is the wrong place for such questions, but just incase, I was looking for a batch or straight OBJ -> DAE converter as I have a lot of OBJ models I want to convert to Collada. Would anyone know of one?

Thanks very much in advance.

I’ve used blender for this in the past. You can get it from here: http://www.blender.org.

Hi,

thanks for the suggestion, I checked it out but could you elaborate on how you used it for batch conversions before?

Ah, right, it appears I misread your post, I’m not sure how you would be able to use blender to create a batch job for this.

I tried a quick google on the topic, you might be able to use the free Autodesk fbx converter if you don’t mind doing the conversion in two moves.

I.e. from obj –> fbx then fbx –> dae.

You can get it from here:

thanks for the suggestion agian, Ill try it and let you know how it goes

Even if the original question dates some months back, I thought this could be interesting for the poster or other people querying the same question:

It seems that MeshLab (http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/) does an ok job at converting a lot of formats, amongst others OBJ and Collada.

edit: typo

thanks, i had to just macro my way through all my models

Similar topic, different question.
We have users uploading obj and fbx models via a web form. We need a server-side solution to convert these files to Collada (dae).

It would be massively helpful if someone could point me in the right direction as I have no solid ideas yet on a solution. I can only think something along the lines of a Python script being triggered.

Many thanks in advance,

Is there any update about this topic?

I coule be inersted about any solution which CAN résolve ths issue…

Thanks
