    drawing Saturn's rings

    Would appreciate any of your thoughts/opinions on how this can be done best?

    All depends on how much detail you want. Will you just be rendering Saturn from afar? If so, look at gluDisk(). If you are going to be up close and want the detail of rocks and dust, that will be harder (and likely slower).

    So, what are your application requirements?

    Thanks for your reply.

    Only need to do this from afar and actually for all the other planets that have rings too so will look into gluDisk. Still a little ways off from that part yet.
