GluSphere - Quads coming off of surface

    Hi all,

I'm trying to make a spherical histogram plot using a GluSphere. I have a sphere drawn as a mesh using glusphere and would like to have boxes coming off of the sphere where the lines are.

The problem i'm having is getting the coordinates of the slices and stacks, so i can then create quads to come off of these areas. Can anyone point me in the right direction please, im not looking for code however any hints will be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Jim
