INTRODUCING COLLADA

Guest Speaker: Marcus Barnes, COLLADA Project Lead - R&D, Sony Computer Entertainment America

Interactive graphic content creation has become increasingly demanding as 3D graphic devices expand in capability and diversity. These demands have never been so high on the content pipeline. A more robust and optimized production model is required.

COLLADA, an open interchange format for the interactive 3D industry, forms the hub of this new production model. It simplifies the interchange and management of data in the content pipeline.
The COLLADA Project is a collaborative design activity led by SCEA R&D to engage the video game industry in the design, development and adoption of XML schema for interactive content, digital asset management, and database integration. This session will introduce the audience to COLLADA project goals and schema features aimed at establishing an interchange format for interactive 3D applications.

MINGLE WITH FELLOW DEVELOPERS: After the presentation, join us at LJ’s (on the second floor of Metreon) for drinks and networking.

This event is free and open to the public. For more details, please visit www.igda.org/sf.
